New Delhi: Passers-by saved a woman locked in a suitcase after being raped and beaten in central China’s Xiangtan city, Hunan Province.
The passers-by saved the lady after the victim cried for help and was heard.
The male suspect, who tried to throw the suitcase into the nearby lake, attempted to flee from the spot by jumping into the water. However, he was caught.
In the video clip captured by one passer-by, a man can be seen slowly moving towards the suitcase and saying “there is a naked woman inside.”
The woman was rescued, while another man took off his shirt to cover her.
As per the reports, the suspect and the woman were neighbors. The accused first threatened, physically assaulted and then raped the woman.
To cover up his heinous crime, he put the unconscious woman into the suitcase and intended to throw her into the lake.
The victim is in a stable condition, according to police and the suspect is in police custody, said reports.
The incident took place on Monday.
