Vijaya Ekadashi 2021 Parana Time: Observed on the Ekadashi Tithis (eleventh day) of the Lunar fortnight, Vijaya Ekadashi vrat is practised by devotees of Lord Vishnu. Ekadashi Tithi of Phalguna, Krishna Paksha (as per the Purnimant calendar) or Magha, Krishna Paksha (according to the Amavasyant calendar) is called Vijaya Ekadashi.
The Vijaya Ekadashi Tithi started on March 8th 2021 at 3:44 PM and it'll end on March 9th at 3:02 PM. Those observing Ekadashi fast should observe the fast before the end of Dwadashi Tithi. Vijaya Ekadashi vrat can be observed on March 10th between 6:36 AM to 8:08 AM. Dwadashi Tithi ends at 2:40 PM.
How to break vrat:
- Before breaking the fast, you have to take a bath and wear clean clothes.
- Meditate.
- Light lamps and incense.
- Chant the 'OM Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya' mantra
- Offer flowers, water and Satvik food to the deity.
- Offer Satvik to the needy.
- Only then can a devotee break their fast during the specific time by consuming Satvik food.

Vijaya Ekadashi has been mentioned in the Ramayana, when Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana were on their way to rescue Goddess Sita from the demon-king Ravana who had abducted her. They learnt that there was an ocean which needed to be crossed in order to reach Ravana's kingdom Lanka. Rama meditated upon the God of the Ocean and sought help from him but the God of the Ocean did not turn up.
After three days of unanswered prayers, Lord Rama decided to dry up the ocean which is when the God of Ocean appeared and pleaded to Rama for mercy as it would destabilize Mother Nature. Rama eventually turned to the sages who suggested observing Vijaya Ekadashi vrat along with the Vanar sena after they observed the vrat they built the Rama Setu to reach Lanka.
