With the advent of the new year, good news has approached for the devotees of Mahakal as garbhgriha darshan of Mahakaleshwar Temple Ujjain commences from Friday. Regular devotees will once again be able to enter the sanctum sanctorum.
The Mahakaleshwar Jyotirling Temple premises 'garbh graha' (sacred sanctum), which had been closed since December 25, reopened today, allowing innumerable devotees to offer their prayers to the 'Mahakal'. According to the visuals, worshippers can be seen praying to the Lord and participating in the 'aarti' (prayer) as the 'Jyotirling' is worshipped by temple priests.
According to one of the families who visited the temple, "We came here from Delhi. The 'garbha graha' premises reopened today, and we are overjoyed after offering our prayers and seeing the Mahakal," news agency ANI quoted as saying.
The 'Mahakal Mandir' is well-known for its 'Bhasma Aarti,' since it is the only 'Jyotirling' of the 12 where the 'bhasma' is actually applied to the 'shivling'.
There will be two arrangements for offering prayers in Mahakal's sanctum sanctorum: regular devotees will be able to have free darshan, while special devotees will have to pay a charge. However, the administrator stated that the doors would be unlocked only for special people on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. According to Zee News, because the number of devotees are higher on these days, common devotees would not be permitted to worship in the sanctum sanctorum.
Except for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, common people will be able to enter free of cost for the rest of the day i.e. from Tuesday to Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm and from 6 to 7.30 pm, as per the report.

According to the report, the Shivratri festival takes place on February 18. In such a scenario, a great number of devotees are expected to seek Mahakal's darshan. There is also the possibility of alterations in worship rules during such occasions. Shivratri is a well-known Hindu religious celebration. Every year in January or February, this festival takes place.
During this time, there is a large crowd of devotees in Lord Shiva temples across the country, notably in the Mahakal temple in Ujjain, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, where devotees from all over the country come to seek Baba's blessings. Every year, the norms of worship are changed in such a situation.
