Surya Grahan 2021: Last Solar Eclipse Of The Year To Take Place In December, Know About Its Impact

Surya Grahan: There are two solar eclipses in 2021, the first one of which took place on June 10, the second and final solar eclipse on December 04, on the Amavasya of Kartik Krishna Paksha.

Surya Grahan: According to the Hindu Panchang, the second solar eclipse in 2021 will take place on December 4, on the Amavasya date of Krishna paksha of Kartik month. The solar eclipse that takes place on the Amavasya of the Krishna paksha affects all the 12 zodiac signs from Aries to Pisces. 

Rahu-Ketu Relation With Surya Grahan

The solar eclipse is closely related to Rahu and Ketu. According to mythological stories, when Lord Vishnu asked the gods to churn the Ksheer Sagar (Ocean of Milk), the demons also arrived there. They also asked to get a share of the nectar from the churning. 

Lord Vishnu had already alerted the gods to not let the demons drink nectar. Upon hearing this, a demon disguised himself and sat down among the gods. During the nectar distribution, the moon and the sun gods recognized this demon and informed Lord Shiva. The demon had drunk nectar, however, before it could reach his throat, Lord Vishnu separated his head with the ‘Sudarshan chakra.’

The nectar did not go down from his throat and his head became immortal. This is how the head became immortal as Rahu and the torso as Ketu. Over time, Rahu and Ketu found a place under the shadow of the moon and the earth. It is believed that since then Rahu has held grudges against the sun and the moon, which is why the solar eclipse occurs.

'Sutak Kaal' (Period Of Abstention) During Solar Eclipse

According to mythological belief, the 'sutak' period is valid only in the event of a total solar or lunar eclipse. No auspicious work can be done during this period. This solar eclipse is a sun shadow, so the 'sutak' will not be valid, but the temple sanctuary doors will remain closed and pregnant women are advised to take special precautions while indoors. 

The last solar eclipse of the year falls on the Amavasya date of Kartik Krishna Paksha on December 4. During this solar eclipse, two large planets Mercury and Moon are also going to set. In addition, Rahu-Ketu will also be retrograde. This change in the positions of planets will have some or the other effect on all zodiac signs.
