Shardiya Navratri 2021: Sharadiya Navratri begins tomorrow from October 7, 2021. On the 9 days of Navratri, nine different incarnations of Maa Durga are worshipped as per tradition. Hence, 9 different things are offered to Maa Durga during the puja on each of these days.


It is believed that Maa Durga blesses her devotees, helps them recover from illnesses, and eliminates financial problems.

During  Navaratri 9 these are the things that are offered to the Goddess:



  • Goddess Shailputri is worshipped on the first day of Navratri. On this day pure cow ghee is offered at the feet of the Goddess. It is believed that it brings health and helps one get rid of the diseases.

  • On the second day of Navratri, Goddess Brahmacharini is offered sugar. This increases the lifespan of the family members.

  • On the third day of Navratri, Goddess Chandraghanta is offered milk or milk products. It is believed that on this day, sweets made from milk should be donated to Brahmins. This removes suffering and brings happiness.

  • On the fourth day of Navratri, Goddess Kushmanda is offered malpua. According to religious beliefs, offering malpua to people sharpens the intellect.

  • On the fifth day of Navratri, Goddess Skandamata should be offered bananas, and bananas should be donated on this day.

  • Offer honey and sweets on the sixth day of Navratri to please Goddess Katyayani. This leads to the attainment of Dharma, Artha and Moksha.

  • On the seventh day of Navratri, one should offer jaggery and nuts while worshiping Goddess Kalratri. It is believed that the Goddess eliminates the evils and sufferings of the devotees.

  • The coconut should be offered while worshiping Mahagauri on the eighth day of Navratri. Offering coconut brings happiness and prosperity in the house.

  • On the last day of Navratri i.e. 9th day, Mother Siddhidatri should be offered sesame seeds. It is said that offering sesame seeds on Navami eliminates the possibility of misfortune or mishap.
