Jammu & Kashmir: Two SSB Men Killed In Fratricide Incident In Kulgam District

Sources said the there was some argument between ASI and the sentry. The sentry unexpectedly shot dead the officer and then killed self too.

Two Forces personnel were killed in a case of fratricide in South Kashmir's Kulgam district late Monday evening. Police said that, a Sentry posted at SSB camp in Kulgam fired upon one officer of the camp and then shot himself with his service rifle too, resulting in the deaths of both.

Sources said the there was some argument between ASI and the sentry. The sentry unexpectedly shot dead the officer and then killed self too.

There had been scuffle between ASI Sandeep Kumar and Constable Hemant Sharma at main gate of PC Kulgam. Hemant lost cool fired by his issued Insas rifle on said ASI killing him on the spot and in the mean time said Hemant fired on self. Both were dead at the spot.

Police have rushed to spot to assess the situation. However the actual reason why the killing took place is not know.



Meanwhile, a total of 246 more people tested positive for coronavirus in J&K on Monday, taking the Union Territory's total number of Covid-19 patients to 8,675.

A statement issued by the Information and Public Relations Department said that the new cases comprised 36 in the Jammu division and 210 in the Kashmir division. Six people infected with coronavirus succumbed in different hospitals of Kashmir on Monday, taking the UT's toll to 138.

As 5318 people have recovered completely, J&K's active cases now total 3,219, out of which 490 are in the Jammu division and and 2,729 are in the Kashmir division.
