Father's Day 2022: Father's Day is celebrated to honour fatherhood as well the bliss of parenthood. It recognises fathers' contributions to their families. Father's Day Celebration Date In Different Countries


Father's Day is observed on various dates around the world. Generally, it is observed on the third Sunday of June in the US and now has gained popularity in India and other countries as well. 


Although most countries celebrate it on the third Sunday of June. Countries such as Italy and Portugal observe Father's Day on March 19. Taiwan celebrates it on August 8, and in Thailand, it is celebrated on December 5 which is the birthday of their former King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea celebrate Father's Day on the first Sunday in September.


History Of Father's Day


Father's Day was first observed in the US on July 5, 1808, when hundreds of men were killed in a mining accident in West Virginia. Years later, Sonora Smart Dodd proposed observing Father's Day in honour of her father, William Jackson Smart, who was a civil war veteran.


Just like Mother's Day, she wanted a day dedicated to honouring and acknowledging the role of fathers, on the date of her father’s birthday, which was June 5. 


Significance Of Father's Day


It is the day when we recognize the importance of the role a father plays in one’s life. Children look forward to this day and make their dads feel special. To show their love, children buy presents and write cards. Some also spend the day doing activities and enjoying themselves with their fathers.
