Ingredients required to make Moong Dal barfi
Moong dal (Green gram) - 1/2 cup (soaked in water)
Sugar -1/2 cup
Milk -1 1/2 cup
Ghee (clarified butter) -as needed
Saffron -10 Strands
Pistachios -1 tsp
Method Of Making Moong Dal Barfi
- First of all, slice the pistachios to make moong dal barfi.
- Take 1 teaspoon of warm milk in a bowl and soak the saffron strands in it.
- Now drain the water from moong dal.
- Put this moong dal in a mixer jar and grind it.
- Make sure not to grind the dal very finely. Keep it a bit coarse.
- Now heat a pan and add ghee to it.
- Now add the moong dal paste to it and saute.
- Saute the dal paste for at least 10 to 15 minutes. As the paste starts gaining a grainy texture and gives out a good aroma, remove it from the flame. Now take it out on a plate.
- Add milk and sugar to the pan and heat it till sugar dissolves completely in milk. Then add saffron milk to it.
- Now add the dal paste and cook till the mixture thickens.
- Grease a tray with ghee and spread the mixture.
- As you set the barfi in the tray, garnish it with sliced pistachios.
- Cut it into a barfi shape later.
Your moong dal barfi is ready.
