New Delhi: Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the month of Ramadan. It is also known as Meethi Eid or Eid al-Fitr, and it is celebrated on the first day of the Islamic month of Shawaal. The festival will be observed on April 22 this year. On this day, people assemble to break their fasts and share a lavish meal. They also pray, make donations, and dress in new attire. 


Here are a few dishes that you can try on Eid:


1. Lamb Samosa:


Ingredients:



  • 50 ml virgin olive oil

  • 100 g peas

  • 1 onion

  • 2 tsp mint leaves

  • 3 filo sheets

  • 1 dash of black pepper

  • 200 g lamb

  • 2 tbsp tikka masala

  • 1 carrot

  • 1 tbsp tamarind chutney

  • 2 pinches of salt

  • 2 tbsp mango pulp


Preparation:



  • Heat 1/2 tsp oil in a large pan and add the minced lamb to it. Sprinkle some salt and pepper powder and fry until brown.

  • Add the tikka masala and cook for a minute more. Add the finely chopped carrots and onions to the pan.

  • When the meat is cooked along with the vegetables, transfer the mixture to a bowl and add mint leaves, mango pulp or chutney and peas.

  • Brush the pastry sheets with olive oil and add 2 tbsp of the lamb mixture. Fold to make a samosa shape and brush with more oil.

  • Transfer the prepared samosas into a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  • Place the tray into a preheated oven at 200 degree Celsius and bake for 30 minutes or until golden in colour.

  • Turn once or twice and remove and drain excess oil.

  • Serve hot with chutney and salad of your choice.


2. Baked Almond Kofta:


Ingredients:



  • 2 cups potato (boiled) and mashed

  • A pinch of nutmeg

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 3/4 cup crushed almonds 

  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions

  • 1 tbsp refined flour

  • 1 Egg

  • 3/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 2 nos eggs

  • Refined flour

  • Dried breadcrumbs 


Preparation:



  • Place the mashed potatoes in a bowl and add almonds, salt, pepper, nutmeg, milk, green onions, flour, and 2 eggs.

  • Mix them well and keep it in the fridge for refrigeration for 15 minutes.

  • Now roll them into equal-sized koftas.

  • Place flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs separately in different plates.

  • Cover each kofta with flour and dunk them into beaten eggs.

  • After that give them a good roll in the breadcrumbs.

  • Preheat an oven to 200 degrees Celcius and bake the koftas till golden brown.

  • Serve hot, with your choice of chutney.


3. Tujji Chicken:


Ingredients:



  • 1 kg chicken leg piece

  • 10 g ginger paste

  • 10 g black cumin seeds

  • 15 g red chilli powder

  • 10 g powdered turmeric

  • 30 ml mustard oil

  • 10 g garlic paste

  • 10 ml lemon juice

  • 10 g garam masala powder

  • 3 pinches of salt


Preparation:



  • Wash and clean the boneless chicken and cut it into dice

  • Add ginger garlic paste, salt, lemon juice, and turmeric and keep aside for 15 minutes.

  • Remove water from marinated chicken and add the rest of the spices and oil. Keep it aside for at least 2 hours.

  • Meanwhile, prepare the tandoor or BBQ. Take BBQ skewers and place chicken tikka in them and cook properly for 10-12 minutes.

  • Serve them hot with your choice of dip.
