The Vande Bharat Express train between Tirunavaya and Tirur was pelted with stones on Tuesday evening. No one was injured in the incident. The window pane of one coach was damaged. The Southern Railway, in a statement, said that it had registered a police complaint and was taking steps to strengthen security.

The incident happened around 5 pm when the Vande Bharat train was passing through an area between Thirunavaya and Tirur in northern Kerala. Police said the train continued its journey to Thiruvananthapuram after the incident. "We were alerted by the railway officials. The investigation is on to trace the miscreants," a police officer was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

PM Modi flagged off the train on April 25. The train connects the state capital to the northernmost district of the Kerala — Kasaragod. The train covers 11 regions — Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod.

The Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express train was also pelted with stones in March. That was the fifth time the train was damaged in stone pelting. The train had earlier been attacked within the state and twice in Bihar.
