A 44-year-old school teacher was arrested on Thursday for flashing a minor girl during a bus journey in Kerala's Kozhikode. The accused allegedly exposed himself to the minor. Police officials told news agency PTI that the incident took place on Wednesday evening under the jurisdiction of Thamarassery police station. The victim filed a complaint based on which the accused, identified as Shanavas, was arrested and is now facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Officials added that the accused is scheduled to be produced before the court later on Thursday, as reported by PTI.

Earlier in August, a 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly flashing a minor girl inside a local train in Thane, Maharashtra. According to a PTI report, the incident took place in an air-conditioned local train when the girl was travelling with her mother. Thane Government Railway Police (GRP) Senior police inspector, Pandhari Kandhe, told PTI that when the train left Kalwa, the accused was sitting opposite a woman and her daughter. During the train journey, he allegedly flashed the girl and made some gestures, said Kandhe.

The accused was identified as Krishna Rathod.

The mother raised an alarm following which the accused was arrested and handed over to the Thane GRP. He was been booked under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.

In another similar incident, a 63-year-old man was arrested in August for flashing to a minor. Delhi High Court gave bail to him and asked Delhi Police to arrange counselling for the minor while observing that such incidents leave a “deep trauma” in the mind of the children.

Another such incident occurred in June when people caught hold of a 50-year-old man in Tamil Nadu for flashing his private parts to a woman on a bus. Public thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
