Youth Congress workers in Kozhikode staged a protest opposing the arrest of Kerala Youth Congress President Rahul Mamkootathil. The police employed water cannons to scatter the demonstrators. The protest comes after Rahul Mamkootathil, currently lodged in prison for his participation in a violent protest march to the Secretariat last month, was arrested by the police once again on Tuesday.














As per an official from the Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police Station, Mamkootathil is currently facing charges in three additional cases linked to the protest march, according to a report on South First.


Later, he was given bail in two out of three cases.














According to ANI, Youth Congress workers protest in Kozhikode against the arrest of State Youth Congress President Rahul Mangkoottathil. Police used water cannon to disperse the protestors.

Kerala Youth Congress continued its protests against the arrest of its state president, Rahul Mamkootathil, by organizing marches towards government offices in various parts of the southern state. Mamkootathil was arrested for allegedly leading violent attacks during a march in the state capital last month, protesting the assaults on Youth Congress (YC) and Kerala Students Union activists during the Nava Kerala Sadas outreach program led by CM Pinarayi Vijayan.


The YC protest marches in Kasaragod and Alappuzha districts witnessed police employing barricades and water cannons to deter the protestors from reaching their intended destinations.


Mamkootathil was arrested by police from his house in Pathanamthitta. Later, a court had rejected his bail plea and remanded him to judicial custody.


Mamkootathil has been placed under judicial custody till January 22.
