Former Karnataka CM and BJP's oarsman for the upcoming Assembly election, BS Yeddiyurappa on Monday said that the BJP government doesn't support the corruption-related incident and he differed to Congress leader Siddaramaiah's statement.

"Whoever is involved in corruption should be punished. We don't support the corruption-related incident that happened days back. We are not covering up it. We have initiated action," said Yeddiyurappa as quoted by news agency ANI.

"I don't agree with ex-CM Siddaramaiah's statement that the government is safeguarding the accused who is still at large. I can say, he will be arrested in one or two days. BJP will also take appropriate action," he added.

Yeddiyurappa was campaigning at Kalaburagi and while speaking to the mediapersons, he said he feels upbeat seeing the response from the people. He also said that BJP will win 140 out of the 224 seats. Stating that people are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he questioned, "Some leaders in Congress are announcing that they will become CM. It will not happen. People are with PM Modi. Who is in Congress?"

Earlier in the day, a chopper carrying Yeddiyurappa found it difficult to land in Kalaburagi as the helipad was filled with plastic sheets and waste around it. Just before landing, the pilot noticed plastic sheets around the landing zone and the chopper kept hovering around the area as authorities cleaned the zone. The plastic was later cleared from the helipad and the helicopter made a safe landing.

Earlier in presence of PM Modi, the octagenarian formally announced retirement from electoral politics.
