Amid top Congress leaders on Thursday being detained by the police in the wake of nationwide protests against ED questioning the party's interim president Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case, a car was set on fire allegedly by Youth Congress workers, in front of the ED office at Shantinagar in Bengaluru earlier on Thursday.


"One incident in Sheshadripuram & another in Shantinagar reported wherein miscreants tried to torch one vehicle each at respective places...11 detained; checking which org do they belong to&if it's their own car. No arrest in Sheshadripuram," Bengaluru Central DCP R Srinivas Gowda.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar condemned ED summons to party's senior leader Sonia Gandhi. "There was no need to summon her, they are only harassing her. This is a political vendetta. BJP is afraid of her. They want to mentally harass Congress leaders," DK Shivakumar said, as quoted by news agency ANI.








During the nationwide protests, over 70 Congress leaders were detained and water cannons were used to keep the protests controlled.
