New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday said that he is ready to join hands with JD(S) to fight against Congress government in Karnataka, reported news agency PTI.

Speaking to reporters, he said, "I am ready to fight together with HD Kumaraswamy against the corrupt (Congress) government (in Karnataka); Only our central leadership has to give the permission." His remarks clarified his earlier remark which had sparked alliance speculation between BJP and JD(S).

"We have not taken any decision so far, it is left to the central leadership, they will take the decision", he added.

Hinting at a ‘Maharashtra-like’ situation in the state without naming names, the JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy also said, “I don't want to particularly name anyone. Anything may happen. It will not take too much time, most probably it will happen this year-end or after the Parliament election. For that, we will have to wait."

Earlier this week, the NCP in Maharashtra was vertically split by Ajit Pawar after he took oath as deputy CM in the Eknath Shinde-led government. Pawar has claimed he has the support of at least 40 of the 53 NCP MLAs.

Referring to the split, Kumaraswamy had said, "Anything can happen in Karnataka. An 'Ajit Pawar' type of person may emerge. This development may happen by this year end or after Parliament elections."
