At least five people died after their car fell in the canal near Pandavapura district in Karnataka's Mandya. The Mandya police have said that a rescue operation was launched after they received information about the incident.
According to the police, the car was heading to Nagamangala when the incident took place, as reported by the news agency PTI. All the passengers drowned in the water, the police officials further stated.
Police suspect that the driver in order to avoid hitting a biker, veered off the road. The deceased are yet to be identified. Following the accident, a large number of people gathered at the spot and informed the police, who rushed to the spot with fire and emergency services personnel, PTI reported.
On Tuesday, a fire engulfed a cotton warehouse in the Bhiwandi area in Maharashtra's Thane claiming the lives of two individuals, the Thane Municipal Corporation informed, as reported by news agency ANI. After receiving the alarm, two fire engines were dispatched to the spot to tackle and douse the fire.
In another incident, four people sustained injuries after their car rammed into a divider in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh area on Monday, police said, as reported by the news agency PTI. The accident took place near Amarlila Hospital in the morning, they said.
"We got an information at Tilak Nagar police station at 9.07 am from a hospital that four persons received injuries after their vehicle rammed with a divider and are under treatment at the hospital," a senior police official said. An FIR was registered into the matter, and further investigation has begun.
