On Friday, facing non-bailable charges, Revanna decided to retract his bail application in a Bengaluru sessions court. This decision followed the filing of a molestation case against him and his son Prajwal. Allegations of sexual misconduct involving Prajwal emerged amid the widespread circulation of explicit video clips.

The Karnataka government established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case prompted by a complaint filed by Nagalakshmi Chowdhary, the chairperson of the State Commission for Women. In response, the leadership of the JD(S) suspended Prajwal from the party.

The CID in Bengaluru filed an FIR on Wednesday, prompted by a complaint from a JD(S) party worker who accused Prajwal of raping her at gunpoint. Allegedly, he later filmed her and used it to blackmail her into satisfying his desires whenever he demanded. Additionally, a second FIR was lodged in Mysuru on Thursday night against Prajwal's father, Revanna, and his associate Sathish Babanna for allegedly abducting a woman for five days.
