Tension prevailed in Sullia in Dakshina Kannada after the BJP Yuva Morcha worker Praveen Nettaru has been hacked to death with lethal weapons by three assailants, who came on bike and attacked him. The BJP worker was attacked while he was closing his chicken shop on Tuesday evening. BJP supporters staged protests over the death of Praveen.


Meanwhile, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday said that initial reports suggest that the SDPI and PFI have links with Praveen's death. the minister further said that these groups are being encouraged in Kerala and in Karnataka, they are motivated by the Congress.


"Initial reports & some media reports indicate at SDPI and PFI links. They're being encouraged in Kerala. In Karnataka, Congress encouraging them. Our government in Karnataka will take action and bring culprits to book," Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

While condemning the act, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai condoles Praveen's death, writes on his Twitter, "The barbaric killing of our party activist Praveen Nettaru from Dakshina Kannada district Sullia is condemnable. The perpetrators of such heinous acts will be arrested soon and punished under the law. May Praveen's soul rest in peace, and may God bless his family with the strength to bear this pain. Om Shanthi," Bommai tweeted.






The Hindu groups are planning to call for a bandh in Sullia, Puttur and Kadaba taluks of the Karnataka-Kerala border districts.
