New Delhi: A case of sexual harassment and stalking was filed against the son and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, former minister HD Revanna and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna on Sunday, news agency PTI reported.
The complaint, lodged at the Holenarasipur police station in the district, was filed by their cook, who asserted her relationship as a relative of Revanna's wife, Bhavani. She detailed instances of alleged harassment, claiming that four months into her employment, Revanna began sexually harassing her, while Prajwal engaged in inappropriate video calls with her daughter, engaging in “vulgar conversations”.
Furthermore, she expressed concerns for her safety and that of her family members.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate an alleged sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna. The SIT was formed after a letter from the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Nagalakshmi Chowdhary to the government.
Prajwal, aged 33, contested as the NDA candidate in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls in the Hassan constituency.
The decision to form the SIT, consisting of three IPS officers led by Additional Director General of Police (CID) Bijay Kumar Singh, was announced by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The SIT, comprising Assistant Inspector General of Police Suman D Pennekar and Mysuru Superintendent of Police Seema Latkar, has been tasked with a swift and thorough investigation into the scandal wherein explicit video clips, allegedly featuring Prajwal, have surfaced in Hassan.
Meanwhile, reacting to the alleged scandal involving his nephew, JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy said, “The Hassan related issue that started during elections, let the facts come out through a probe. Whoever it is, who has committed the mistake as per the law of the land...there is no question of forgiving anyone who has committed the mistake. So let the facts come out from the probe, after that I will react.”
