Congress MP Randeep Surjewala Thursday alleged that the "40 per cent commission sarkara" has corrupted the whole election process by fraud, impersonation, stealing voter data and conspiracy by Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and Bruhata Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Earlier, a report claimed that the BJP government in Karnataka has corrupted the election process.
The News Minute reported that a private NGO with the help of the Government Order has collected data from thousands of voters in Bengaluru. Responding to the report, Congress leader Surjewala said, "Shocking exposé reveals that those in citadels of power, incl K'taka CM, are responsible for theft of voter data, fraud & impersonation. CM Bommai, his officials, govt officers, BBMP people & State Election authority are partners in crime in trampling democracy."
While explaining the alleged fraud done by the BJP government in Karnataka, in a release Surjewala said, "CM is BBMP incharge minister. Its Chief Commissioner is Bengaluru's electoral officer. A private entity, Chilume Educational and Rural Development Institute applied for permission to cover the voter awareness drive of the Election Commission. The permission was first given for Mahadevpura Assembly and it was then extended to all 28 Assembly Constituencies in Bengaluru."
"They do so in cahoots with Minister Incharge - CM, BBMP controlled by BJP & election authority. They also issue them BLO cards. They don't upload voters' info on Garuda - ECI app - but on Digital Sameeksha - app owned by a private company for use by MPs/MLAs/political parties," he said.
"The fraud, impersonation, identity theft, theft, dishonest misappropriation of property, concealment and misuse of stolen property, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy is prima facie apparent on party of Minister Incharge Bommai, his government officers, BBMP and Election Authority," Surjewala said in the release.
