Meanwhile, Karnataka Higher Education Minister C N Ashwath Narayan on Thursday compared Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah to Tipu Sultan and told the cadre to finish him off.

Ashwath while talking about Siddaramaiah, as per Indian Express said, “Do you want Tipu or (V D) Savarkar? Where should we send this Tipu Sultan? What did Uri Gowda Nanje Gowda do? You should finish him off the same way.”

Later, the Minister said, "The words used to compare Tipu Sultan and Siddaramaiah in Mandya are casual allusions and not malicious words. My words are being misconstrued. It wasn’t meant to hurt anyone.”

To the comment, Siddaramaiah said, "Higher Education Minister @drashwathcn has appealed people to kill me like how Tipu was killed. Aswath Narayan, Why are you trying to instigate people? Get the gun yourself. I am not surprised by @drashwathcn's call to kill me. How can we expect love and friendship from the leaders of the party that worships the murderer of Mahatma Gandhi?"
