India's Population Grew Under Cong Rule As Govt Did Not Provide Adequate Electricity: Pralhad Joshi In Karnataka

Launching an attack on Congress, Joshi said the party had no moral right to talk about corruption. He was referring to Congress’ demand for Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai’s resignation.

New Delhi: Taking a dig at Congress, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said as the party was not able to provide adequate electricity during its regime, it led to a massive rise in population in the country.

Addressing a roadshow during the Vijay Sankalp Yatra in Hassan district of poll-bound Karnataka, Joshi targetted the grand old party saying the India witnessed a spike in population during the regime of the previous government as Congress was not able to provide adequate electricity.

Launching a scathing attack on Congress, Joshi said the party had no moral right to talk about corruption. He was referring to Congress’ demand for Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai’s resignation over the arrest of BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa’s son by Lokayukta in a bribery case.

“The Congress has no moral right to speak about corruption. From the days of Jawaharlal Nehru to Manmohan Singh, the party has engaged in many corrupt deals,” Joshi said.

Joshi said that the state government should be appreciated for the Lokayukta raids.

“Being in power both at the Centre and state, we could have easily avoided the raids. However, we did not. Whoever commits a crime should face punishment. The inquiry is going on,” Joshi said.

He further said that the Congress has lost its mental balance as it is put of power for a long time.

“Rahul Gandhi said he was not allowed to speak in the Parliament but when he was speaking, he was just making baseless allegations. When he was asked to prove the authenticity of his allegations, he could not. It is very unfortunate to make such allegations against the Speaker and the Chairman,” Joshi added.

The Union Minister also sought an apology from state Congress President DK Shivakumar for terming the recent cooker blast incident in Mangaluru as a minor accident.

“The terror outfit ISIS has itself claimed responsibility for the incident. Will you (Shivakumar) support Taliban or ISIS? Two months back, Shivakumar had termed the cooker blast incident as a minor accident. He also said that the BJP was using it to divert the attention of the people. Will you tender a public apology,” Joshi said.
