New Delhi: In a series of tweets, Kannada actor-turned-politician, Divya Spandana clarified that she resigned from Congress for personal reasons and didn't dupe the party of Rs 8 crores and run away. The former Congress MP has requested party's General Secretary, KC Venugopal, to clarify with the media about the same.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Divya wrote, "After I quit, ‘she duped the congress of 8 crores & ran away’ was planted in the news esp Kannada channels in an attempt to destroy my credibility. I didn’t run away. I resigned for personal reasons. I certainly did not dupe the party of 8 crores. My mistake was staying silent,"

While requesting, Rajya Sabha MP, Venugopal in a tweet to clarify with the media about the issue, Divya wrote, "The least you can do for me Venugopal ji, so I don’t have to live with this abuse and trolling for the rest of my life."

Earlier on Wednesday, the actor-turned-politician took to Twitter claiming that members of Congress were asked to 'troll me'. "So the ‘office’ has circulated these messages among the congress leaders & volunteers asking them troll me. Save yourself the trouble- I’ll do it myself," she tweeted.

The former Social Media head for Congress, responded to one of the responses allegedly sent in by the Congress office, by tweeting: “If there’s anyone who gave me opportunities and stood by me it’s @RahulGandhi. Anyone else claiming to have ‘given’ me opportunities is an opportunist. These opportunists have only backstabbed and tried to suppress me. Everything you see on TV is a farce to conceal their devious mind.”
