The Bengaluru police took actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and 9 of his associates into custody for questioning in connection with a murder case registered at Kamakshipalya police station. The detention was made related to the murder of a youth Renuka Swamy of Chitadurga in Bengaluru. 


Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda said, "In connection with a murder case registered in Kamakshipalya Police Station limits of Bengaluru West division on 9th June, one of the actors of Kannada film industry has been secured and he is being questioned. The details are yet to be ascertained and the matter is under investigation. Renukaswamy (33) from Chitradurga is the victim. Around 10 people are detained and they are being questioned. The details are awaited..."

According to sources, a 47-year-old actor was apprehended at a hotel in Mysuru in relation to the murder of Renuka Swamy, which occurred on June 9 within the Kamakshipalya police jurisdiction.


Swamy, who was employed by a pharmaceutical company and originally from Chitradurga, was allegedly killed and his body disposed of in a stormwater drain in Kamakshipalya.


It is reported that the victim had posted derogatory remarks about a film actress on social media, according to a report on PTI.


The incident came to light after residents informed the police about the murder leading to the discovery of Swamy's body. An autopsy was conducted, and the forensic report confirmed the death as a homicide, sources revealed.


Meanwhile, police have placed Darshan's house at RR Nagar under tight security.
