In response to mounting concerns over the water crisis and allegations of illegal mining in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed the issues in a recent statement, urging the media to refrain from reporting on speculations. He said that efforts were taken to ensure that drinking water does not become a problem in the state.
Regarding the water crisis, CM Siddaramaiah asserted, "The media should not report on speculations. Action has been taken to ensure that drinking water does not become a problem in any part of the state."
The statement of CM came amidst growing apprehensions about water scarcity in various regions of Karnataka, particularly during the summer. The CM's reassurance was reportedly aimed to allay fears and convey the government's commitment to addressing the issue effectively.
On the issue of illegal mining, CM Siddaramaiah emphasised the importance of evidence and due process. On illegal mining in the state, CM Siddaramaiah said, "If there is evidence of illegal mining, let them go to court. Due to reports that Janardhana Reddy was involved in illegal mining, I campaigned for action against him and took out a padayatra."
He clarified that no such reports have come on these ministers.
The remarks from the Chief Minister come at a critical juncture with public scrutiny intensifying over environmental issues and governance in Karnataka ahead of Lok Sabha polls. The public has also called for more robust measures to conserve water and manage resources efficiently to mitigate future crises.
