Bengaluru Water Crisis: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya Threatens To Stage Protests If Issues Remain Unresolved

Tejasvi Surya further highlighted the escalating water scarcity issue by saying that even the Chief Minister's Office resorted to summoning water tankers to meet its water demands.

Tejasvi Surya, BJP MP representing Bengaluru South, threatened Karnataka government that they would organise a protest in front of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru if urgent measures are not taken to resolve the drinking water crisis in the state capital. After a meeting with Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) chairman Ram Prasath Manohar V, Tejasvi said, Karnataka unit of BJP would lead a protest at Vidhana Soudha if water crisis was not resolved within a week. 

Taking to X, Tejasvi said, "The Government, despite being aware of having to face this situation, failed to take up precautionary measures. As a result of this negligence, today, people of Bengaluru are facing this tough water crisis."

"This shows sheer neglect of the decision makers & their irresponsibility towards Bengaluru. Most of the areas of Bengaluru are facing a severe drinking water crisis. The Government is attempting to address this issue unscientifically," he alleged.

 

Further, Tejasvi Surya suggested certain ways to mitigate the issue. He said that treated water should be provided for non-potable usage for bulk users like industries and construction section. 

"Drinking water must be redistributed to places where there is stress. About 1300 MLD of water is treated water. This water must be diverted towards lakes for recharging aquifers," he said. 

Tejasvi Surya pressed for the earliest completion of Cauvery Stage 5 in order to address the issue.
