Bengaluru Rains: The Southwest Monsoon has officially arrived in Karnataka, bringing widespread rainfall across the coastal regions and marking a significant climatic event in the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru, forecasting a cloudy sky with occasional rain or thundershowers on Monday. The downpour is anticipated to persist until June 5, according to the IMD's weekly weather report.
In a historic weather event, Bengaluru has broken a 133-year-old record for the highest single-day rainfall in June. A post shared on platform X by @Bnglrweatherman highlighted that the city has received an unprecedented 140.7mm of rainfall over the past two days, surpassing the June average of 110.3mm.
The weather forecast for Bengaluru indicates generally cloudy skies with intermittent spells of rain or thundershowers from June 2-5, with further rainfall expected on June 8 and 9, as per the weather department's predictions.

Heavy Rainfall In Bengaluru Causes Waterlogging And Traffic Disruptions
Sunday's heavy rainfall resulted in significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions in various parts of the city. Notable areas affected included the Hebbal Underpass, KFC Road to Gunjur Road, Chikkajala Kote Cross, Benniganahalli Railway Bridge, and Hebbal Circle, which experienced severe traffic congestion, Times Now reported.
The early arrival of the monsoon in Karnataka, occurring just three days after its advance to Kerala on May 30, brings much-needed relief following the weather conditions of the previous year. More than 220 of Karnataka's 236 taluks were declared drought-hit last year due to delayed monsoon onset and insufficient rainfall, leading to widespread crop loss. The situation was exacerbated by heatwave conditions in March and April.
