New Delhi [India], Jan 19 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Friday that India will host yoga sessions at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Summit in Davos.
"To showcase India's soft power at the global stage, yoga sessions would be held in the sidelines of the summit", Ramesh Abhishek, the secretary of Industrial Policy and Promotion (IPP), said.
"We are taking the best yoga teachers there. Yoga sessions would be held at the summit and at the Swiss Alps. Our message is that an individual needs to lead a healthy and strong life", he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Davos, Switzerland to attend the WEF summit on January 23. He will deliver a keynote speech at the plenary session.
The Prime Minister will also meet with the President of Switzerland, Alain Berset.
The plenary session of the summit will be moderated by Professor Klaus Schwab, the Founder and Executive Chairman of the WEF.
The theme for this year's WEF summit is - "Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World".
Also, this is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the summit, since former Prime Minister H. Deve Gowda's visit in 1997. (ANI)
