CBSE issues notice to Ryan International School, says death could have been averted

Seven-year-old Pradhuman Thakur was found dead in a toilet at Ryan International School in Gurgaon on September 8.

Police have also arrested two officials of the school and are seeking to question the trustees of Ryan Trust, which manages the school. The case snowballed into a major national issue of safety and security of children in schools, with vociferous protests held by parents and activists outside Ryan schools in several states. The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday refused to stay the arrests of Ryan International School trustees in regard with the case.(Image: File)

CBI took over the investigation of the case which was earlier registered on September 8 at Police Station Bhondsi, Gurugram under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), 25 of Arms Act, 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and 75 of Juvenile Justice (J.J.) Act r/w Section 34 of IPC. The CBI official further said that a team of the agency has reached Gurugram and will visit the school on Saturday to collect more evidence in the case. (Image: File)
