Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 12 (ANI): Bhopal mayor Alok Sharma on Thursday sat in the middle of a water-logged street to inspect the ground situation in the vicinity.
Sharma also asserted that all agencies should work collectively to achieve better results.
"I am taking stock of the situation in different parts of the city. All agencies should work in coordination. I also called the Collector to witness the current situation so that it is not repeated," Sharma told ANI.
Sharma further underscored that they are sending teams wherever the water has clogged.
"I have been sitting in the control room myself since 5 o'clock, we are sending in our teams to all the places where the water has clogged," said Sharma.
The Bhopal Mayor also asserted that the municipality did their work but the PWD failed to execute their duty.
"The municipality did their work; the PWD last year assured us that they will work on the road to prevent water-logging. I want to know why the work wasn't done in one year?" said the mayor.
Sharma also said any officer who does not fulfil his duties has no right to stay in Bhopal, while warning that he would escalate this issue with the chief minister.
"Any officer who does not fulfil his responsibilities shall not stay in Bhopal. I will take the matter to the Chief Minister," said Sharma.
He has also asked for every department to have a nodal agency to ensure efficient working. (ANI)
