Jaishankar Raises ‘Threats To Maritime Shipping’ Issue With Iran, Meets Prez Raisi

EAM S. Jaishankar Monday met Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in Tehran and told them that the attacks carried out by Houthis on merchant ships have a ‘direct bearing on India's energy and economic interests’

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar raised the issue of “threats of maritime shipping” with Iran during his two-day visit to Tehran even as New Delhi expressed concerns over the potential threat to India’s energy and economic security due to attacks on merchant vessels by the Houthis. Apart from having a delegation-level meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian, the External Affairs Minister also called on Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi
