As the naval forces of leading global powers increasingly depend on nuclear-powered submarines, India has made a substantial leap forward.
The Indian Navy is eagerly waiting for its third nuclear-powered submarine, Aridhaman, to join the fleet this year. Meanwhile, the two indigenously developed nuclear powered submarines — Arihant and Arighaat — serve as a preliminary step towards the establishment of a formidable fleet of nuclear submarines. The strategic planners of India have astutely acknowledged that, in the rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, the maritime domain is paramount for achieving national supremacy.
