Warship INS Imphal Gets Commissioned Amid Growing Threats To Maritime Security

INS Imphal, the third of four warships of Project 15B that is part of the Visakhapatnam class stealth-guided missile destroyers, got commissioned in the Indian Navy on Tuesday.

The indigenously-built stealth guided missile destroyer, INS Imphal, got commissioned into the Indian Navy Tuesday. Touted to be the largest and the most advanced destroyer to be ever named after a city from the northeast, INS Imphal’s commissioning signals India’s plans to boost its maritime domain under the Indo-Pacific strategic framework as China’s belligerence increases in the Indian Ocean region and beyond.   Designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau
