Indian Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir, whilst answering questions at ABP Network’s landmark India@2047 Summit, opens up on the rumours of rift between him and India's ODI & Test captain Rohit Sharma.

There have been past instances of fallout between coach and captain, with 'Greg Chappell-Sourav Ganguly' & 'Anil Kumble-Virat Kohli' to name a few.

When asked about the same, Gautam Gambhir jumped into the defence of Rohit Sharma, stating that 'these so-called experts who run their own YouTube channels, and social media users have given air to such rumours, which is absolutely false'.

Gambhir also highlighted the importance of winning the ICC Champions Trophy, stating that had the side failed to do so, experts and media would have been more aggressive on such rumours.

Here's What He Said During The Session

"These rumours are created by social media and few so-called experts who are running their YouTube channels, who want TRP, nothing else. Two months ago, we won the ICC Chmapions Trophy 2025, now imagine the outrage and nature of questions had we failed to win the tournament."

"Two months ago, a coach (Gautam Gambhir) and captain (Rohit Sharma) combined to deliver the ICC Champions Trophy for India, and still you guys are asking such questions."

"I respect the human being (Rohit Sharma), I respect the person he is, I respect what he has done for the Indian cricket, I will always respect the contribution he has made, and I got a lot of time for someone like Rohit Sharma. And also, it is not the scenario based on recent outcomes, it has been the case ever since he stepped foot inside the dressing room as a youngster, and it will always remain the same in future."

"For people chasing chasing TRP by asking such questions, giving air to such rumours, I think they should do their homework a little better."
