As the nation celebrates its 'Amrit kaal' India is rediscovering itself and transcending from India to the idea of a united 'Bharat' that reaches out to every corner of the globe. Focusing on this idea, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari will take the stage on February 25 at ABP Network's Ideas of India and elaborate on India's vision for the roads and transport sectors.
ABP Network's Ideas of India is back again this year with the theme "Naya India: Looking Inward, Reaching Out". The annual summit, which brings thought leaders from various fields together to ideate the concept of a new India, will take place on February 24 and 25.
Nitin Gadkari has been a staunch advocate of green transport. He has been actively working on his 'Go Electric' campaign to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in the country. As part of this campaign, the government has set a target of achieving 30% electric mobility in the country by 2030.
Another significant move by Gadkari has been the amendment Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill last year, which aims to improve road safety and make the process of obtaining a driving licence and vehicle registration more streamlined. The bill proposes hefty fines for traffic violations and stricter penalties for drunk driving and driving without a helmet or seatbelt.
In addition, he has been advocating for the use of alternative fuels like biofuels and hydrogen and has set a target of achieving 20% ethanol blending in petrol and 5% blending in diesel by 2025.
Apart from Gadkari, eminent personalities like former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, Infosys Founder and Chairman Emeritus Narayana Murthy, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Eknath Shinde and Bhagwant Mann, Bollywood legends Zeenat Aman, Asha Parekh, social media influencers, music personalities, educationalist and many more will be presenting their idea of 'Naya India' from the stage of Ideas Of India Summit 2023.
The Ideas of India Summit is holding its second edition amidst a time of global upheaval. This turmoil is caused by natural events that have disrupted the usual cycle. It is a period of unrest where historical norms are being challenged by forces seeking retribution and renewal. Science is pushing boundaries of what was once deemed impossible, while technology is continuing to democratise society. The annual summit also comes at a crucial juncture as India preps for another Lok Sabha election.
With the upcoming year looking jam-packed, it becomes crucial to understand where India will head with the given circumstances and the thought leaders will chime in with their perspective on the Ideas of India stage.
