Ideas Of India Summit 2023: At the second edition of ABP Network’s flagship event ‘Ideas Of India’, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari highlighted the importance of performance audit, talked about the road construction, among other things. Speaking at the summit on "Lay Of The Land: Highway From India To Bharat", Gadkari stated: "One thing, that I keep in mind is that financial audit is very important, but performance audit is even more important."
Speaking about the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Union Minister stated: "Every government gets 5 years to work, and the report of government's work is then evaluvated by the people. One thing, that I keep in mind is that financial audit is very important, but performance audit is even more important. The performance audit card of our party is indeed very important. I can say it with certain amount of confidence, that if our work in last 8 years is compared to the 60 years of Congress rule, the performance of our government is still much better. Good work is what People expect from us."
"If we get people's love for our work, then that what we aspire to do. I think that politics is an instrument for socio-economic reform," he added.
Union Minister Gadkari listed three values written under the photo of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani at the BJP headquaters, with first being nationalism, and second being "good governonce and development". The third and most important is to continuously work to uplift the underprivileged socio-economic section (antyodaya) of the society.
"Good governance and development is what we aim for and it is what people expect from us," Gadkari stated.
Highlighting the road construction work being done under the BJP government, Union Miister said: "When there is one lane, we say it as one km. This is the world standard which is being followed from many years by everyone. Accordingly, we get our average. Last year, our average was 38 km per day. However, now we need to see of what is the figure till March. I want be able to say anything on that. But, my target is 60 Km per day. When I assumed the ministry, I found that under the UPA government the road construction work was being done at the rate of 12 km per day. But, now we have set 6 world records."
"India to become global automobile manufacturing hub in 5 years," said Nitin Gadkari.
