AI 5G Smart Ambulance: In a bold move set to transform emergency medical response in the Thane region, KIMS Hospitals has launched the first AI-integrated 5G Smart Ambulance, developed in collaboration with Medulance. This pioneering vehicle harnesses cutting-edge technology to bridge the crucial gap between the site of a medical emergency and hospital care—where every second can mean the difference between life and death.
The smart ambulance was introduced during a live demonstration at KIMS Hospitals, showcasing its ability to stream real-time patient vitals—such as ECG, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation—directly to the hospital’s emergency team. Thanks to advanced artificial intelligence and low-latency 5G connectivity, doctors can interpret data instantly and begin evaluating the patient’s condition while the ambulance is still in transit.
This proactive approach means that clinical decisions and life-saving interventions can commence well before the patient reaches the hospital doors.
Speaking on the impact of this advancement, Dr. Ankit Biyani, Head of Emergency Medicine at KIMS Hospitals, emphasised the critical nature of rapid response.
"The golden hour can mean the difference between life and death in cases of trauma, cardiac arrest, or stroke. With our AI-integrated 5G Smart Ambulance, clinical decisions can begin before the patient reaches the hospital—redefining what timely intervention looks like in emergency care," he says.
A Vision For Patient-Centered Innovation
Saurabh Gupta, Regional COO at KIMS Hospitals, sees this launch as a powerful reflection of the hospital’s mission to innovate with purpose:
"This launch is more than a technological milestone—it reflects our deep commitment to patient-first innovation. By merging 5G connectivity with AI capabilities, we aim to significantly reduce emergency response times and save more lives through unparalleled medical excellence for the people of Thane and Maharashtra."
Technology That Saves Lives
The AI-integrated system doesn’t just monitor vitals—it actively analyses them, delivering real-time insights to clinicians. This two-way communication setup allows hospital teams to prepare ahead, ensuring critical care units are ready the moment the patient arrives.
Dr. Amit Raodeo, Chief of Critical Care at KIMS, highlighted the life-saving potential of this system:
"With emergencies, every second matters. The AI-driven smart ambulance gives us a clear clinical window even before the patient reaches us, which can be the difference between recovery and long-term damage."
Setting A New Standard For Emergency Response
KIMS Hospitals’ new smart ambulance marks a first for Thane and sets a precedent for other healthcare providers across the state. By seamlessly integrating AI and 5G into emergency care, the hospital has taken a bold step toward redefining how critical medical support is delivered—bringing the future of emergency medicine to the roads of Maharashtra.
