He will visit Bharat Biotech’s facilities in Hyderabad, Zydus Cadila in Ahmedabad, and Serum Institute of India in Pune. While Bharat Biotech is developing 'Covaxin', Zydus Cadila's ZyCoV-D is under development, and Serum Institute of India has partnered with global pharma giant AstraZeneca and the Oxford University for manufacturing of the latter's COVID-19 vaccine.PM Modi is expected to arrive at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport around 9 am. From there, he will head towards Changodar in a helicopter. Modi should focus on strategy on Covid vaccine, instead of publicity: Congress
Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi over his three-city visit to review the Covid-19 vaccine development and manufacturing process, saying he should be holding meetings to strategise how it will be allocated instead of doing publicity everytime.
Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Congress office here, Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera said, "The Prime Minister should be holding meetings to strategise and decide on how will the vaccines be allocated, how will it work and who will get them first."
PM reaches Pune to review vaccine work at Serum Institute
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Pune on Saturday on the last leg of his three-city visit to review coronavirus vaccine development in India. After landing at Pune airport around 4.30 pm from Hyderabad, Modi proceeded to the Serum Institute of India (SII) by helicopter.
Modi's visit to SII is aimed at reviewing the progress of the vaccine candidate for coronavirus infection and to know about its launch, production and distribution mechanism, an official said.
The Zydus family comprising 25,000 Zydans stands committed to the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' mission and offering the nation safe and efficacious vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics to fight COVID-19, it added.
Zydus Cadila had earlier announced that the phase-I clinical trial of its vaccine candidate ZyCoV-D is over and it commenced phase-II clinical trials from August.
Drug firm Zydus Cadila on Saturday said the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at its Zydus Biotech Park will motivate the company to scale greater heights in its pursuit to bridge unmet healthcare needs.

Status of Bharat Biotech's vaccine 'Covaxin' Phase-three of human clinical trial of the India-made COVID-19 vaccine candidate Covaxin began at AIIMS in Delhi on Thursday with Dr MV Padma Srivastava, the chief of Neurosciences Centre at the premier institute, and three other volunteers receiving the first dose.
'Covaxin' is being developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Dr Srivastava was the first one to receive the shot, which would be given to around 15,000 volunteers at the AIIMS over the next few days, sources told news agency Press Trust of India.
The first dose of 0.5 ml intramuscular injection was given to four volunteers. They were under observation for two hours and will be monitored for the next few days, a source told news agency PTI.
