Mumbai: Mumbai’s Dharavi, from being one of the riskiest Covid-19 hotspots in the country, reported zero cases of coronavirus in the last 24-hours, since April earlier this year. The slum dominated area of Mumbai did not report a single coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, a civic official said on Friday evening. ALSO READ | 'Covid-19 Vaccine Booking For Rs 500' FAKE! Maharashtra reported 3,431 new coronavirus infections on Friday, taking the tally of cases to 19,13,382, a health department official said. The death toll rose to 49,129 with 71 new fatalities.

Mumbai reported 596 new COVID-19 cases taking its tally to 2,89,800, while 11 fatalities took the death toll in the state capital to 11,056.

Coronavirus figures for Maharashtra are as follows: Total cases -19,13,382, New cases-3,431, Total deaths- 49,129, Total recoveries-18,06,298, Active cases-56,823 number of tests conducted-1,24,01,637.

Currently, the total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 3,788 out of which 12 are currently active. The slum which houses more than 6.5 lakh people, spreads over 2.5 square kilometers. Out of the 3,788 total cases, 3,464 people have recovered from the disease.

Tthe Covid-19 graph in the country seems to flatten as the number of new cases recorded fell below the 25,000 mark for consecutive seven days.

In the last 24-hours, India reported 23,067 new cases, 336 deaths, and 24,661 people recovered from the disease, according to the data from the Union Health Ministry. Active cases in the country have now fallen below the 2.9-lakh mark. Until now India has recorded recoveries close to 97 lakh and 1.47 lakh deaths.

The total number of Covid-19 in the country stands at 1,01,54,311.

India To Subsidize The Vaccine

As the coronavirus graph is seems to flatten, the government is all set to launch its mass immunization program which is also being considered as the largest vaccination drive in the world.

According to the government, in order to make the Covid-19 vaccine

available for private use for those who can afford to pay even as inoculation of the vulnerable population is expected to begin early next year once a candidate is finalized.  The prices will be subsidized in private markets, and it is expected that the rollout could be similar to what is done for the influenza vaccine.

Vaccine First For The Healthcare Workers

According to the government plan for the mass immunization program, 30 million high-risk people will be vaccinated by July 2021.

The government is currently drafting a list of beneficiaries that includes about 30 million health care and frontline workers for the first phase of immunization.
