India has witnessed a slight jump in the daily covid cases tally with 3,962 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. The active cases stood at 36,244 while 7,873 recovered, as per the information by the Union Health Ministry. India recorded 3,720 cases on Wednesday.  Delhi recorded 272 fresh Covid cases with a positivity rate of 8.39 per cent and one fatality on Wednesday, according to data shared by the city government's health department. The number of active cases stood at 1,971 of which 1,532 were in home isolation. With the fresh cases and fatalities, Delhi's case tally climbed to 20,39,542 and the death toll rose to 26,634, the bulletin said. The 272 cases emerged from 3,241 tests conducted the previous day.   


The number of cases in Delhi dropped to zero on January 16 for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic. However, the city has witnessed a spurt in fresh cases over the past month. On April 11, mock drills were conducted in Delhi hospitals to ascertain their preparedness to deal with any eventuality. 


Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 299 new coronavirus infections, a spike of 160 over the previous day, and one fatality, the health department said in a bulletin.


On Tuesday, the state had recorded 139 cases and zero fatalities. The state's Covid tally rose to 81,66,506, and death toll reached 1,48,516. Mumbai recorded 67 cases and one death. The case fatality rate in the state stood at 1.81 per cent. There were 2,939 active cases in Maharashtra now. With 710 patients recovering from the infection since previous evening, the tally of recoveries rose to 80,15,051. The recovery rate in the state was 98.15 per cent. As many as 11,083 tests were carried out, taking the tally of tests conducted in the state to 8,70,13,504.Maharashtra's coronavirus figures: Fresh cases: 299; Fatality: 1; Active cases: 2,939;  New Tests: 11,083.


Mumbai on Wednesday reported 67 new cases, taking its overall infection tally to 11,62,990, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. The fatality count in the metropolis rose to 19,766 after one person died due to the infection, the civic body said in its bulletin.This is for the third day in a row that Mumbai has registered less than 100 coronavirus-positive cases.
