New Delhi: India has on Saturday recorded 24,882 fresh Coronavirus cases which is deeply concerning as it is the highest spike witnessed so far this year. This has taken the caseload to 1,13,33,728.
The fresh surge is also the highest daily rise in the last 83 days as last on December 20, 26,624 new infections were recorded.

According to Union health ministry data, the death toll has also climbed to 1,58,446 with 140 new fatalities.
The active caseload has risen to 2,02,022, which includes 1.74 percent of the total infections. The recovery rate is currently at 96.82 percent.
The number of people who have recovered from Covid-19 surged is 1,09,73,260. The case fatality rate stands at 1.40 percent, the data informed.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 22,58,39,273 samples had been tested until March 12 including 8,40,635 on Friday.
Meanwhile, 18,40,897 people were vaccinated on Friday taking the total number of beneficiaries to 2,80,05,817.
