The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has written to all States and Union Territories to ensure a functional and regular supply of medical oxygen for Covid-19 pandemic management.
In a detailed instruction, the ministry asked the states to make sure of the availability of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) and their regular supply, adequate inventory of oxygen cylinders, and availability of Life Support Systems like ventilators, SpO2, and BiPAP among others.
As Covid cases spike in some parts of the world, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has said RT-PCR will be mandatory for international arrivals from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Thailand. On arrival, if any passenger from these countries is found symptomatic or tests positive for Covid-19, then he or she will be put under quarantine, he said.
Air Suvidha form filling to declare current health status to be made compulsory for international passengers arriving from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Thailand, Health minister Madaviya told ANI.
This comes amid the rising Covid-19 scare across the globe with China repeatedly recording a huge number of cases.

A senior health official said that around half a million people in a single Chinese city are being infected with Covid-19 every day, reported AFP. He added that the country’s wave of infections is not being reflected in official statistics.
The remark was quickly censored by China.
Reversing from its strict containment strategy, China rapidly dismantled its zero-Covid strategy, doing away with snap lockdowns, lengthy quarantines, and travel curbs earlier this month.
The citizens are struggling as the rising Covid cases have emptied pharmacy shelves and filled hospital wards, reported AFP.
