"The Delhi government has increased testing multi-fold. I directed the Health Minister this morning that doctor’s prescription should not be asked for testing. Anyone can get himself tested," CM Kejriwal tweeted.
The high court earlier today ordered that doctor's prescription is not mandatory for those who want to go for voluntary COVID-19 testing in the national capital. As per the announcement, the rule will be applicable for RT/PCR test to detect the novel Coronavirus.
According to the reports, the Delhi government has a capacity of around 12,000 tests per day. Keeping the figures into consideration, the High Court bench headed by Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad asked the private laboratories to allow 2,000 COVID-19 tests a day for those who voluntarily want to get an RT/PCR test in Delhi.
As per the latest rules, people need not to have a doctor's prescription. However, carrying Aadhaar card details for Delhi address proof is must to get tested for COVID-19. Along with that, a form prescribed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) needs to be filled up properly before you visit the private labs for RT/PCR test in the national capital.

Meanwhile, the number of containment zones has crossed 1,000 in the national capital. As stated in a PTI report, it is expected to rise further with the increase in the number of Coronavirus screening tests being conducted and the consequent climb in the cases of the infection here.
Last month, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced that testing to determine the prevalence of COVID-19 will be doubled to 40,000 per day. Barring August 31, when over 14,000 tests were conducted and 1,358 fresh cases reported, since August 30 daily case count has been recorded in excess of 2,000.
