New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, India recorded 13,313 new cases of Covid-19 and 38 fatalities. According to data provided by the Ministry of Health, the number of new cases increased from the roughly 12,000 cases that were reported yesterday, although the daily positivity rate has decreased from 3.94 to 2.03 percent. There are 83,990 active cases of coronavirus, news agency ANI reported.
On Wednesday, Delhi reported 928 new cases of COVID-19 (the fewest since June 13) and 3 pandemic-related fatalities. In Delhi, there are 5,054 open cases, and the city's positive rate is 7.08 percent.
On Wednesday, India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage surpassed 196.60 Crore (1,96,60,12,817). Until 7 p.m. yesterday, more than 12 lakh (12,95,158) vaccine doses have been delivered. The daily immunization number is anticipated to rise once final reports for the day are compiled by late tonight.
Meanwhile, Mumbai registered 1,648 new Covid cases on Wednesday, bringing the city's total number of current cases to 13,501.
On Wednesday, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray tested positive for Covid-19. Their diagnosis comes at a critical juncture in the state's political turmoil.
The incumbent Maha Vikas Aghadi administration is under jeopardy after Shiv Sena leader Eknath Khadse and 40 other dissident MLAs fled the state and are now camped in Assam's Guwahati.
