New Delhi: India has again registered a drop in Covid cases as the country recorded 16,051 new infections in the last 24 hours. 206 people succumbed to the virus on Sunday while the daily positivity rate stands at 1.93%.
With the declining trend in daily Covid cases, most of the states have lifted the Covid restrictions and with schools and colleges being reopened across the country, the situation is back to normalcy.
With the addition of new infections, the active caseload of the country now stands at 2,02,131.
The country's daily positivity rate now stands at 1.93%.
Delhi
Delhi reported 570 new coronavirus cases and four fatalities while the positivity rate stood at 1.04 per cent, according to data shared by the health department on Sunday.
Out of these 570 cases, 92 pertain to earlier weeks that were added on the ICMR portal on Saturday, according to a PTI report.
The number of tests conducted a day ago stood at 54,614, while 730 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, the bulletin issued in the evening said.
The national capital's case tally now stands at 18,56,071, and the death toll is at 26,101, it stated.
Delhi on Saturday reported 635 COVID-19 cases and two deaths, while the positivity rate was at 1.13 per cent.
The number of daily cases in Delhi has been on a decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13.
Maharashtra
Maharashtra on Sunday reported 1,437 fresh COVID-19 cases and six deaths due to the infection, taking the state's tally to 78,58,431 and the toll to 1,43,582, according to the state health department.
The discharge of 3,375 people during the day took the recovery count in Maharashtra to 76,94,439, which is 97.91 per cent of the caseload, leaving the state with 16,422 active cases, he said.
With 1,02,856 samples being examined on Sunday, the number of tests in Maharashtra has gone up to 7,72 32,001, as per the press release by the health department.
As per the state health department, Mumbai reported 167 cases and no death due to COVID-19, which increased the tally to 10,54,643 and kept the toll at 16,687.
