In the last 24 hours, India registered 7,584 new cases of the novel coronavirus, its highest number of daily cases since March 2, as well as 24 fatalities from the infection. According to statistics released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday, the country had a total of 3,791 discharges in the past 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to roughly 98.71% and total recoveries to 4,26,44,092, news agency ANI reported.
The overall number of active COVID-19 cases in India has grown to 36,267, according to statistics from the health ministry released today. The number of active cases recorded yesterday was 32,498.
In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has increased by 3,769 cases. According to the government, active cases account for 0.08 percent of overall illnesses.
Meanwhile, India's Covid-19 immunisation coverage reached 194.74 crore (1,94,74,38,014) on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. According to official data, more than 13 lakh (13,28,975) vaccination doses were delivered as of 7 p.m. on Thursday.
On August 7, 2020, India's COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It reached 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19, PTI reported.
India will pass the two crore mark on May 4, 2021, and three crore on June 23, 2021.
There were 17 additional deaths in Kerala, two in Delhi and Rajasthan, and one apiece in Maharashtra, Sikkim, and Uttar Pradesh.
A total of 5,24,747 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 1,47,867 in Maharashtra, 69,824 in Kerala, 40,108 in Karnataka, 38,025 in Tamil Nadu, 26,216 in Delhi, 23,524 in Uttar Pradesh and 21,205 in West Bengal.
The health ministry has stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
