New Delhi: Recording a continuous decline in Coronavirus cases, India's daily surge of Covid infections dipped below the 5000-mark on Sunday. The country logged 4,362 new cases in the last 24 hours today.


According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, active cases now stand at 54,118 while 66 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hrs. 





 


With the daily decrease in infections, Mumbai on Sunday reported 46 COVID-19 cases, the lowest since March 2020, taking the tally to 10,56,918, while one death after a clean slate for nine consecutive days took the toll to 16,692.

This is the lowest (single day infection) since March 2020, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Iqbal Singh Chahal said, adding the positivity rate stood at 0.2 per cent.

For the first time since the peak of the pandemic, Mumbai has reported less than 50 new cases. A day to mark and a mark to not cross! Let's hang in there Mumbai, till that mark hits a zero, the BMC tweeted.


Meanwhile, Delhi recorded 249 fresh coronavirus cases and zero fatality while the positivity rate stood at 0.59 per cent, according to data shared by the health department  on Sunday.

This is the second consecutive day when the national capital reported zero fatality. Delhi has so far recorded 26,134 deaths due to the infection.

With the fresh cases, the national capital's infection count increased to 18,61,712, according to the latest health bulletin.

The number of COVID-19 tests conducted a day ago stood at 42,364, the bulletin said.

On Saturday, Delhi reported 274 fresh COVID-19 cases while the positivity rate stood at 0.58 per cent, according to data shared by the Health Department.
