New Delhi: India continues to report over 3000 fresh Covid cases as the country registered a total of 3,324 coronavirus infections on Saturday. With the addition of fresh cases, the total case tally has reached 4,30,79,188, while the number of active cases increased to 19,092, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry.


40 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours and the death toll has climbed to 5,23,843, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases accounted for 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent.

An increase of 403 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.


Tamil Nadu


While the state was registering a decline in cases for the past few days, active infections rose to 513 in Tamil Nadu with 49 more people testing positive, the health department said on Saturday.

With these new cases, the tally of Covid cases in Tamil Nadu increased to 34,53,932. Among the new cases, 24 are male and 25 female, the bulletin stated.


Chennai accounted for the majority of new cases with 36. Chengalpet recorded six new Covid cases, while Coimbatore, Erode, Kanyakumari, Namakkal, Salem, Tiruvallur and Vellore reported one case each.


Maharashtra


 Maharashtra registered 155 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hrs and one pandemic-related death, according to the data released by the state health ministry. 

It took the caseload in the state to 78,77,732 and death toll to 1,47,843. There are 998 active cases in Maharashtra now.

On Friday, the state had reported 148 new infections and two deaths.

As many as 135 patients recovered during the day, increasing the tally of recovered cases to 77,28,891.
