New Delhi: India reported 2,51,209 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. During the same time, 627 deaths were reported whereas 3,47,443 recoveries were logged in the country increasing the total number of recovered cases by 3,80,24,771. The active caseload of the country currently stood at 21,05,611 while the recovery rate was at 93.60 percent. 


The daily positivity rate in the country was reported to be at 15.88 percent whereas the weekly positivity rate was at 17.47 percent. 






15,82,307 samples were tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. 72.37 crore samples have been tested so far in the country. 


On the vaccination front, 57,35,692 doses of Covid-19 have been administered in the last 24 hours in the country. Total Covid-19 vaccination tally has exceeded 164.44 crore doses so far


News agency ANI reported that the Centre is soon expected to issue an advisory for reopening of schools across the country, as the Covid-19 vaccination for adolescents between the ages 15 and 18 has gathered pace in the country. 


The report further stated that Union Health Minister Mansukh Madaviya has asked the National Expert Group to suggest modalities for the reopening of schools across the country.


"COVID-19 has affected children of all age groups. However, the mortality rate and severity of disease in children are negligible. Health experts believe that it is high time children return to schools," quoted ANI as sources said.
