New Delhi: With India registering 3,26,098 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 3,980 deaths in the last 24 hours, K. Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, on Saturday urged all people to continue to follow the Covid-19 appropriate behaviour to crush the pandemic.


“Very important, whether vaccinated or not: Masks, physical distancing, ventilation. These interventions are also immediately critical for lowering pressures on the healthcare system, during this surge. Adherence essential at the personal and community levels. By all,” he tweeted.



The Principal Scientific Adviser’s advice comes as ten states reported 74.85% of the new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours.


Karnataka reported the highest daily new cases at 41,779 followed by Maharashtra with 39,923 while Kerala reported 34,694 new cases, according to the Union Health Ministry.


The Union Health Ministry also informed that the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered exceeded 18 crore on Saturday under phase-3 of the nationwide vaccination drive, adding ten states account for 66.73% of the cumulative doses given so far in the country.

3,28,216 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the last 24 hours and cumulatively 42,58,756 across 32 states/Union Territories since the start of phase-3 of the vaccination drive.


Stating the National Recovery Rate is 83.83%, the Union Health Ministry said India’s cumulative recoveries reached 2,04,32,898 on Saturday, adding 3,53,299 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.
